Transitioning to secondary school presents its own set of challenges, and we're here to support young people throughout this journey. Whether it's issues with self-confidence, self-esteem, or bullying, our Aspire Mentors are available to help.
During this crucial transitional phase, Aspire Mentors play a pivotal role as trusted adult figures in the lives of young people. Aspire Mentoring focuses on promoting well-being through a creative and tailored learning journey, ultimately leading to renewed engagement with education, peers, and society as a whole.
Each Aspire Mentor begins by building a connection with the young person and identifying appropriate starting points for one-to-one creative activities. These sessions are practical and hands-on, using various tools such as film, drama, music, poetry, photography, and storytelling to help young people explore their surroundings safely, learn new skills, communicate effectively, and address personal and emotional issues from a 'creative distance'.
At this stage, Aspire Mentors assist young people in exploring their interests, discovering their passions, and cultivating a positive outlook for their future.
While Aspire Mentoring primarily takes place in schools for secondary-aged young people, alternative arrangements can be made if they are in exam years or facing exclusion. Sessions can then be conducted in community spaces, arts venues, or residential placements/homes.
Our dedicated Aspire Mentoring Team carefully matches young individuals with mentors who suit their needs and schedules.
As a provider of Aspire Mentoring, Hopereaching United CIC offers commissioned services on a case-by-case basis, utilising funds from Pupil Premium Plus or broader social care support.
